A travel company run by backpackers for backpackers
FounderLiving and working in Australia after uni was the dream! From waking up and going for morning runs in Byron Bay while getting to encounter the beautiful dolphins, before grabbing an oat cappuccino and heading to work which didn’t really feel like work. My job was to help backpackers plan their perfect East Coast Australia itinerary.
Fast forward a few years and I’m back in the UK after gaining valuable first-hand experience in the Australian and New Zealand tourism industry, I now get to continue doing what I love by helping backpackers enjoy the beauty of the East Coast of Australia. Not only are our personalised and custom tour packages amazing value for money, we’ve experienced all the tours out there and we know which ones are the best! We can’t wait to help you get planning!
I first arrived in Australia on my gap year in January 2020, where I also worked as a travel agent in Byron Bay selling trips of the East Coast to backpackers. This was purely by coincidence that me and Seb were working in the same place, in the same type of industry! He only just left before I arrived! I absolutely loved living and working in Australia, but unfortunately COVID-19 meant I had to leave the travel agency and start university back in the UK.
However, the travel agency helped me to gain valuable experience in backpacker travel throughout Australia, leaving me very excited and well-equipped to join MAP! On top of this, I recently travelled the East Coast myself, which has helped to strengthen my love for Australia and reignite my passion for assisting people in having the trip of their lifetimes (not that I didn’t have that already)!
After graduating from uni and still unsure about what I wanted to do, I decided to book a one way flight to Australia completely solo and never looked back! It was probably the most daunting thing but ended up being the best experience ever!
I met so many amazing people and made lifelong friends. Since joining MAP, I now get to share my experience with others looking to do the same. It’s the most rewarding feeling!
Australia had always been at the top of my travel bucket list, so it was the first place I headed on my gap year in 2019. I travelled up the beautiful East Coast for months, in complete disbelief that it was actually real life!
I also then started working as a travel agent in Byron Bay, where I coincidentally met Sid and only missed Seb by a couple of months!
Having loved my trip so much, helping backpackers plan their ultimate East Coast itinerary became a complete passion of mine. This combined with the amazing experience I gained at the Byron agency meant that I couldn’t have been more excited to join the MAP team. I love getting to help others prepare for their favourite adventure yet.
I first travelled to Australia back in 2018 where I travelled from Melbourne all the way up to Cairns. I absolutely loved every minute of my trip and completely feel in love with Australia. I had already booked a working holiday visa in New Zealand, so I headed to Queenstown to work for the year and then in 2020 booked my flights back to move to Australia…but it turns out 2020 wasn’t a good time to try to travel!
I ended up heading back to Australia in 2022, where I travelled up the East Coast with MAP! I had the most amazing time and managed to tick off some true bucket list activities- including a helicopter ride over the Great Barrier Reef, a camping trip on Fraser Island and scuba diving!
With first hand experience of travelling with MAP, I was so excited to join the team as Social Media Manager and have loved the process of growing the MAP community!
I travelled the East Coast of Australia with MAP in summer 2022, documenting the trip on my social media channels! Now, I help manage MAP’s influencer relations and their content - creators you may well have heard of MAP through!
My favourite places on the East Coast were Noosa and Magnetic Island - Noosa for the incredible beaches and coastal walk, and Magnetic Island for all of the super cute wildlife!
