You must be at least 18 years of age to join one of our packages. A lot of the tour operators we partner with have an age restriction of 18-35 years olds.

The beauty of MAP is that we allow you to enjoy the best of both worlds. Some of the tours in this package involve group tours where you’ll get the opportunity to meet and make friends with like-minded people. We also work with the most sociable and fun hostels who offer evening activities and are great for meeting solo-travellers like yourself. You also have free days where you get to spend them how you’d like. This way we ensure that our packages aren’t too restricted, allowing you opportunities to find your own hidden gems.

Please remember that for the 36 and 43 Day Packages, you will be travelling with a group of MAP travellers.

For the New 16 and 25 Day Packages stating in October, you will also be travelling with a group of MAP travellers.

Absolutely. We put you up in the most popular backpacker hostels full of like-minded and friendly people. The hostels normally have activities going on which gives you other opportunities to make friends. The tours we also include in our packages are full of fun backpackers looking to make great memories and experiences.

Of course. You can add extra nights or even extra activities and tours to this package. Register your interest and a member of the friendly team will give you a call.

A semi-guided tour helps keep the freedom and flexibility of backpacking, but combines it with the stress-free, friendly nature of group travel, giving you the best of both worlds! It means there is no consistent group leader throughout the East Coast, but instead group leaders only for the tours featured. This allows for the group leaders to be incredibly knowledgeable in their specific area, whilst allowing yourself to have the independence and freedom away from the tours.

We believe this is the best way for group tours to be, as this means you aren’t heavily restricted by strict timings and the exact same itinerary as everyone else. It allows for independence, which is key to enjoying travel, but also allows for a tailorship to your itinerary, so you can fully maximise your experience for yourself and include everything you want to do without making any compromises. Best of all, you will also have the opportunity to meet other like-minded backpackers in the hostels and on the tours you are booked onto, alongside spending time with your group!

Group tours will start and meet in their chosen start city and continue up the East Coast together, ending in Cairns. Everyone will be booked on to the same tours, accommodation and transport options that are listed within the tour package. However, you are more than welcome to speak to us about changing/adding on any other options. We will always be happy to help!

We’re positive this won’t happen. However, if you really didn’t feel strongly about your group then this is exactly why semi-guided group tours are the best! This allows you to still meet other like-minded backpackers in the hostels and on the tours, so you can end up spending your days with all the amazing other travellers you meet.

As long as you are aged between 18-35 years old then you are more than welcome to join our trips!

This is a question we get asked a lot. We have experimented with different group sizes and based on your feedback we have decided to cap our group sizes at 16 travellers.

Yes of course! The premium group tour actually joins up with the 36 Day Adventure Group tour package to help you meet more people and make more friends!

Just like how travellers booked onto the New 16 Day Package will now join up with the New 25 Day Package in Brisbane and travel together!

Yes of course, we highly encourage that!

We want everyone to have the most amazing time over in Australia and not to be worried before they leave, so that’s why we help people to get in contact with each other just before the trip. We help to organise an online call before the trip so everyone can get to know each other, along with getting everyone set up with a group chat so nobody feels a stranger when they arrive!

Yes! There is no reason as to why you can’t make more friends!

No, not at all! All group tours are designed to allow yourself to meet others easily but also have the freedom to pick your own trip and design your itinerary to your liking. Group tours can be followed perfectly for the full group experience, or very loosely, it is entirely up to you!

For the cheapest and most sociable experience we would recommend staying in dorm rooms, but that doesn’t have to be the case! Private rooms and hotels are also accommodation options that we would be happy to help you with.

After you book, we’ll have a follow up call 2 weeks after everything has been finalised. We will go through all your tickets with you and explain your whole itinerary. If you book while you’re in the UK, we will also send you a MAP gift box which will include some exciting freebies!

It is completely up to you, as there isn’t such a thing as a ‘best’ time to visit Australia!

In the Australian winter (June-August) it is obviously slightly colder in the south, but it is also the dry season. In the Australian summer (December-February) it is a lot warmer along the coast but is also the wet season.

We recommend booking as soon as possible so that we can make sure your trip is as best as it can be! Certain tours can get booked up months in advance in high season, so it is best to book as soon as you are sure!

Even better, the trip doesn’t have to be paid for when you book, we just ask for everything to be paid 4 months in advance and that is all!

We are with you every step of the way, so if you ever need to get in contact with us because of a booking or just some general help we will be here for you! We’re just a quick Whatsapp message away!
